 The Flynn Education Foundation Closes,
Donating Assets to West Virginia Wesleyan College

The Flynn Education Foundation, Inc. was established by Dr. Luther and Mrs. Ada Flynn of Waynesboro, Virginia, and Mrs. Frona Flynn Williams, of Durbin, West Virginia in 1975  “to benefit worthy students who are interested  in preparing themselves for a life of service to Christ and His Kingdom and to their fellow man.”

“The complexities of non-profit investment, and the administrative rules to which we must adhere for continued tax-qualification, have caused the Board of the Foundation to consider its existence.  Upon deliberation, the Board has determined that the original vision of Rev and Mrs. Flynn and Mrs. Williams can be best  perpetuated by dissolving the Foundation and donating the assets to West Virginia Wesleyan College, “ said Mr. Sandy Flynn, Treasurer of The Flynn Education Foundation.

For over 35 years since its inception in 1975, The Foundation has been helpful to students through grants or low-interest loans in their pursuit of education which would permit them to lead more effective lives of service.  Recently, however,  upon resolution of the Board of Directors of The Flynn Education Foundation, Inc., the Foundation has been wrapped up and the assets delivered to West Virginia Wesleyan College in the interest of doing good works there.

"The primary interest of the Foundation is that the bulk of its assets would be used to establish scholarship assistance  for students in Wesleyan’s  Christian Education and Church Leadership undergraduate program,  and for students with financial need in other service-oriented programs, such as teaching, nursing, pre-medical and social services,” Flynn said further.

“West Virginia Wesleyan is pleased to receive the hopes and visions of Rev. and Mrs. Flynn and Mrs. Williams, in their lives of service, made manifest by  this transfer of the assets of The Flynn Education Foundation to West Virginia Wesleyan College.  It will be our privilege to permanently steward the dreams of generations of students committed to service, like those of Luther and Ada Flynn almost a century ago, “  said Pamela Balch, President of the college.
